In a previous post, we talked about making waffle cones. Here we will discuss making ice-cream cone.
Everyone loves ice cream, but if you don’t have a waffle cone machine or any other special ice cream making equipment, you might be forced to get it from an ice cream shop. Did you know that you don’t really need an ice cream cone machine to make one?
The ice cream cones are produced with a vanilla batter that can be mixed by hand and cooked off straight. You have no cause to worry. When you walk by an ice cream shop, the smell of waffle cones can be very nice. Well, you can get your own kitchen smelling like that with this recipe for making homemade ice cream cones. You can make your own ice cream cones from the comfort of your home.
How to make homemade ice cream cones?
Before you start, make sure you have 2 tablespoons of melted butter, melted semisweet chocolate, 2 large egg whites, ⅔cup of sifted all purpose flour, 3 tablespoons of whole milk,½ teaspoon of vanilla extract, toasted nuts, and sprinkles.
When you have gotten all these ingredients, place your sugar, salt, vanilla, and egg whites into a mixing bowl and whisk together. Stir the butter and flour until they are fully incorporated and the batter is smooth.
Then place your frying pan, nonstick skillet, or cast non pan on low heat. The next step is to pour 1½ tablespoons of batter into the warm skillet and carefully spread into a thin even layer. Then move it around fast so that you can get a nice round shape.
Then spread it out 6 inches x 6 inches. After doing this, place your skillet over medium heat and cook for about 4 to 5 minutes or until the base is set. The next thing is to flip and continue to cook for 1 to 3 minutes.
Then lift the disc off the griddle and carefully roll from the bottom of the cone to shape it. The next thing to do is to pull out the shape at the top to make it a wider cone. Points to note, first focus on rolling the bottom of the cone, that would make it very easy for you to shape the rest of the cone. Then be careful not to roll it too tight, you want a nice opening on top to fill with ice cream.
Cover the cones in nuts or sprinkle and dip in chocolate. Then set the cones on parchment until the chocolate becomes hardened.
Endeavor to prepare your batter early, when you are ready for your ice cream, you can cook off your cones and they will be ready in few minutes.
These cones are fit to be eaten the day they are made. If you have any left over, carefully store in an airtight container for up to two days at least.
